The Berbers of the Anti Atlas Mountain have been famous for the skill and beauty of their silver work for centuries. I traveled to Tiznit, the center of making silver jewelry in 1968 with some English people I met who had been traveling there since 1953. Everyone knew them and saved up their silver for their annual arrival.

I was lucky to be invited on their trip and looking out over the Sahara from the high mountains was exhilarating. Talking to people , they said they even mined the silver there!

Tiznit was a small village at that time and the people were very pleasant and dressed very colorfully. This is a large cuff that fits a man, as you can see in the photos. The pin that holds it closed fits very tight and never slips out.

The cuff weighs 98 grams and is 2 1/2" across and the side is 1 3/8" high. The blue enamel work is very beautiful.

This is a great bracelet! BTW, if anyone remembers these English guys, Bernie, Jake, Mick and Lucy and Mick Hull. They were well known, I went to London with them after a stay in Paris during the Revolution in'68, no internet then.
